War Child have been working with the music industry for many years, helping to raise awareness & gain funding to assist children in conflict zones.
And amongst those supporting them is Massive Attack’s frontman, Robert “3D” Del Naja, who has maintained a deep, decades-long partnership with the conflict-relief charity.
When Massive Attack decided to donate all proceeds from their special edition EP, of Atlas Air (featuring a painting by Del Naja) to the charity, they came to Narrative Industries for a website to help promote the fundraising efforts online.
The special edition EP was limited to just 1,000 copies worldwide. It was a hand-stamped, individually numbered vinyl & art edition of Atlas Air created in close collaboration between The Vinyl Factory, Robert del Naja, and designer Tom Hingston, with all proceeds donated to War Child.
A genuine collectors’ item, it was the only physical release of the three-track EP, & featured a remix of ‘Red Light’ by Warp artist Clark, and remixes of ‘Atlas Air’ by Jneio Jarel from Shape of Broad Minds and DFA and Heligoland producer Tim Goldsworthy.
The brief for the website was simple: create a highly interactive art website.
So Narrative Industries designed & developed a website that mimicked the retro 1980s & early 1990s Atari ST desktop used for music production “back in the day” – an interface that bands like Massive Attack would be familiar with, and not entirely visually dissimilar from earlier versions of Apple’s MacOS.
The site ran on WordPress and content could be added as necessary.
