Make it obvious. Make it easy. Make it feel right.

This part of the process typically involves removing roadblocks and smoothing the path so people can get where they are supposed to be.

What is CRO?

Put simply, conversion rate optimisation is about smoothing a journey to ensure people get to where you want them to be.

That act of completing a task is a conversion, and it can be applied to anything to any task from watching a video & signing-up for your newsletter, applying for help, or buying a product from your online store to donating.

A journey may have many stages, and each stage may involved multiple processes in the user’s mind: becoming aware of a thing, having an interest or need for that thing, deciding to take the next step, and then taking that step. Each step, in each stage, can be optimised.

If you ever shopped at Aldi supermarket, you’ve probably witnessed their high-speed checkouts. While the checkout is only stage ion the conversion, it;s often a crucial one. To aid the high-speed checkout, Aldi’s own-brand products often have significantly larger barcodes, often spanning large portions of the packaging or appearing in multiple locations on a single item.
